Best of Nomination Forms

Each year at WSFFA’s Annual Conference and Fire School, one department and four individuals nominated by their peers are honored in the categories listed below. The Chief of the department only has to sign off on the nomination before it can be submitted. Take a moment now to fill out and submit nomination forms and tell us who you believe should be recognized for their volunteer service. This year's deadline for Applications is no later than April 19th 2024.

 

Volunteer Firefighter of the Year

Sponsored by Provident 

If nominee is the department’s current Firefighter of the Year, provide nomination information that led to his/her selection.

Other criteria for nomination and selection includes:

  • Exemplary performance demonstrated by call volume, training hours, and/or actions at emergency scenes
  • Positive attitude and influence on others in the department
  • Consistently positive interactions with the public
  • Performance consistently in the best traditions of selfless public service

Volunteer Fire Officer of the Year

If nominee is the department’s current Fire Officer of the Year, provide nomination information that led to his/her selection.

Other criteria for nomination and selection includes:

  • Exemplary leadership demonstrated by call volume, training hours, and/or actions at emergency scenes
  • Participation in training of responders
  • Positive attitude and influence on others as a role model to all and mentor to assigned firefighters
  • Performance consistently in the best traditions of selfless public service
  • Consistently positive interactions with the public

If nominee is the department’s current Firefighter of the Year, provide nomination information that led to his/her selection.

Fire House of the Year Award

If nominee is the department’s current Firefighter of the Year, provide nomination information that led to his/her selection.

Other criteria for nomination and selection includes:

  • Consistently positive interactions with the public
  • Community Pub-Ed Program that includes
    • Fire safety outreach
    • School children outreach
    • Citizen CPR and First Aid classes
  • Documented support from the community served
  • Written endorsement by department’s elected governing body
  • Written endorsement by firefighters’ leadership (career, volunteer, or both if combination)
